Let the light shine through on this Environmentally Compatible Floating Dock !
You might think at first that a floating dock can't benefit much from a light transmitting material ( LTM ) such as ThruFlow™ decking. You would be wrong. Just take a look at this no flash photo.
But, the benefits of ThruFlow™ also include the slip proof textured surface. This can be an especially important consideration on a floating dock. Generally, if you are specifying a floating dock for your site you may have tidal forces, or varying water levels on a lake. In either case your dock is constantly in motion, especially if it is exposed to waves or the occasional boat wake. As the person walks the dock and it moves they naturally and instinctively alter their stride and stance. Placing the foot outboard and finding the kind of high coefficient of friction that ThruFlow™ provides greatly enhances the resistance to a slip and fall accident. It is worth noting, that the coefficient of friction of ThruFlow is the same whether it is wet or dry. Wet wood decking, natural or composite has a chancy coefficient of friction, and the raised wood grain texture of composite material is no match for the engineered knurled surface texture of ThruFlow™.
And, don't forget that when you specify the ramp that transitions from shore or your fixed dock section to the floating dock section. The angle of the ramp really demands a slip resistant textured surface.
